Reduced Order LEV Prediction

Research Abstract:
A reduced order model to accurately predict leading edge vortex (LEV) shedding is being produced. We hypothesize that there is a set of hyperparameters that can accurately predict the Leading Edge Suction Parameter (LESP) for a wide range of reduced frequencies, heave amplitudes, and pitch amplitudes. We are comparing our models to data obtained from Prof. Gopalarathnam’s lab. We are formulating a new similarity measure for a pitch-plunge equivalence that takes vortex shedding into account, unlike effective angle of attack.
